During the month of September 2015, we held a series of 2-day weaving workshops with world renowned teacher, Anne Mette Hjørnholm, at Lakeshore Willows.

Participants enjoyed making sculptural items (animals, sculptures, pods, bowls) during a 2-day Sculpture Weave workshop with Anne Mette.  Additionally, participants enjoyed making frame baskets (rib baskets) during two 2-day workshops with Anne Mette.

About Anne Mette Hjørnholm

Anne Mette is a professional basket maker, and her beautiful work has landed her contracts for making baskets for TV shows and movies in addition to teaching engagements in several countries.

Since 1996, Anne Mette has made a living from working with basketry and willow-work – basketry courses, exhibitions, larger projects, baskets made to order and almost anything that can be made with willow.

Her formal education is from the Danish Design School in Copenhagen. She started out as textile designer, specialized in weaving. From there, moving on to basketry seemed just natural.

Anne Mette is a member of the Danish Arts and Crafts Association and her work has been featured in the members magazine from the American National Basketry Organization.

Below are some examples of sculpture and frame basket projects provided by Anne Mette as inspiration for the workshop participants!
