Guided step by step, you'll learn traditional willow weaving techniques as you build a sturdy, handcrafted bassinet from natural willow. If you need to bring a support person to assist while you weave this can be discussed (say if you're expecting... for example)
Note the willow used will be willow with bark (unlike the photo which is peeled willow)
This class includes demonstration, guidance, and support in building a large oval slath base, base weavings, three rod- four set chase wale, fill weaves to suit experience level, four rod four set chase wale, assymetric packing to make bassinet shape, as well as either lifted pass through handles, or roped handles depending on time and experience of students.
Bassinets will fit an oval 16" x 30" oval mattress (not included)
This course is suitable for adults with previous willow weaving experience.
Willow and tools (secateurs, curved pruners, wrapping irons, awls) will be available for purchase.
