In this two-day workshop for beginners, you will create a medium size round stake and strand basket with asymmetrical sides.
This basket design was first introduced by Polish master basket maker Stanislaw Dziubak at "the big Willow and Basketry Day" at Eva Seidenfaden's estate Vissinggaard in Denmark.
The round base is woven using twining and a base wale before the stakes are pricked up. For the side weave a three rod wale is followed by French Rand. For the asymmetrical part the stakes are bent down one by one and used as weavers for a simple rand. There is no finishing border and a driftwood or other wooden handle is added at the end.
If you have an interesting piece of wood that you would like to implement as the handle, please bring it with you to the workshop.
Maximum of 6 students per workshop.
