In this one day workshop for intermediate to advanced weavers, you will finish a traditional Irish Skib.
I was taught this traditional Irish potato Skib by Irish master weaver, Joe Hogan. The Irish Skib is one of very few truly traditional Irish baskets.
This basket was traditionally used for draining and serving potatoes in Ireland and today it is often used as a beautiful decorative ornament on the table or hung on the wall. You have the option of different colour combinations for your basket.
You will be able to choose between two different types of bases for your basket, each originated from different parts of Ireland. You will weave the base using twining and a base wale before pricking up the stakes. The short side is woven using a three rod wale before the border to finish the basket.
